This is sort of what life was like today, except without the sunshine. (Grandpa took this photo a couple days ago.) It was a lie-around, stay-warm, bark-at-strangers, chew-on-Papa's-ear, count-your-blessings kind of day.
Grandpa held me for awhile. Grandpa held Dizzy. It felt good -- for awhile. Then I had somewhere to go, something to do, although I don't remember what.
Grandpa did leave the door to the dining room open, so I explored a bit, and the room beyond -- last time I saw that room I remember it had a big, fancy tree growing in one corner. The tree isn't there any longer. Will it come again? It was pretty. I was good. I left nothing behind. Grandma found me and carried me back to the kitchen.
Grandpa has been busy as usual in his office. He was running this big machine that makes noise and spits out a big piece of paper. Something he calls a "printer," I think. I heard him mentioning to Grandma how much he likes the prints on the new paper, prints he's making for Auntie Em.
Grandpa made something called "pesto" for dinner tonight. Nothing that smelled like very much while he was making it. But I smelled Grandpa's breath later. EEYEWEE! Did it ever stink! I think I'll sleep under the covers tonight, near the foot of the bed.
I wish one of my mommies would write. Dizzy and I miss them, much as we love being here in this big house with Grandma and Grandpa.

Hello, little doglet darlings! Your two mamacitas have been thoroughly enjoying (and re-reading repeatedly) your tales of adventures with your grandparents. Ella, you look so grown up and sophisticated in these pictures. Dizzy, you have become quite the sun goddess!
Today was the first weekend morning waking up without you two and your Mommy B and I were at a bit of a loss - no brisk morning walk, and not much fun to hang out in the apartment without the two of you frolicking and nipping at one another's hindquarters.
So - we went out and about, doing Christmas shopping and sprucing up the apartment. Girls, you will be pleased to know that I took your Mommy B to the new pet store on N. 9th (where we got the comfy bed and Ella's new collar). We promise to frequent it when you return.
After an afternoon of shopping, Mommy B went into the city for dinner and I made risotto (grandpa's special recipe) with my friend Lia (who has been a faithful blog viewer this past week and said that you are the cutest little pups around). I also made cupcakes in ice cream cones with chocolate cream cheese frosting, which Mommy B came home in time to enjoy. Maybe we can try some sort of beefsteak variety when you return....
Girls, girls - we miss you!!!! Give our love and kisses to your grandparents!
